The Story Box Project is Being Launched Again!
The Story Box Project is a project that Kevin Cordi developed in 1995 that is a
large decorated "Story Box" that travels around the world and comes back to the original place one year
later. It will be launched very soon from a school in Ohio then to Florida’s Story Lab and making the
way to Oregon and California and we would like to bring it to you! We would also like your stories for
the box.
In the box people of the community, storytelling guild or school place stories that
they have heard or a story that they want to share or even an original story that they have written and
want to share with others. You can send a physical copy of the stor(ies) or
email a copy to be placed in the box. This "Story Box"
travels from place to place and becomes a gift for all who receive the box. Each person shares the content
of the box for about two weeks and they come together and read and tell stories that are from the box or
inspired from the box. People photocopy stories from the box so that they would have them later but the
originals stay with the box. Some people elect to put in newspapers of their town, storytelling videos,
tapes or CDs, and other material in addition to stories. Some write a journal story in the box. Then the
box is re-packaged and sent to another place. The person receiving the "Story Box" pays for it to
move on, but it arrives to you free of charge! Imagine such a treasure from all over the country arriving
in your home town to share with anyone who would like to share the riches we know as stories. This
"Story Box" travels from one place to another. The whole intent of "The Story Box" is that
we can share stories from all over the world together.
Soon we will have pictures and a blog of The Story Box Journey on this website.
In the past, "The Story Box" has traveled as far as Poland, China, Alaska, and more.
